Clarinet Stand Options
Wooden stands that can safely hold one, two or three soprano clarinets are available in Oak, Cherry, and Walnut. The Pegs for Bb and A Clarinet, and for Eb/D Clarinet are available in Oak, Maple, Cherry, Walnut and Paduk. An extension for for the smaller peg in either a straight or curved version is available at additional cost in Oak, Maple, Cherry, Walnut and Paduk.
These stands are designed to be used in a clarinet studio, but they can also used for stage work. Engraving, if requested, can be placed anywhere on the top of each stand. Each base is between 1.5 - 1.75 inches thick depending on available stock. Thicker bases are available with a decorative, contrasting wood between layers for an additional cost (you may contact me for a thicker base to discuss what you are looking for). Four rubber "feet" made from closed cell foam are affixed to the bottom of the base just to keep it from moving around and to lift it 1/8" off the floor or desk. Each peg is attached with a bolt from the peg into a matching threaded insert in the base. Pegs can be moved around and traded out.
Peg stands without engraving allow the pegs to be spread out uniformly. If Engraving is requested, the pegs wil be set further back in the space on top.
Triple stand bases measure 12 x 12 inches.
Double stand bases measure 8 x 8 inches.
The single stands measure 6 x 6 inches.
Select the base in the wood type, and then select the peg in the same or different, contrasting wood type. Finally, if you wish to add an extension for an Eb/D peg, select that in the wood type.
In the first two pictures, the first commissioned custom base was made for Todd Levy (Principal Clarinetist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra), and has a Special Order Zebrawood Base with Walnut pegs and a Curved Eb/D Extension. In the next two pictures, the commissioned base for Jessica Phillips (currently Acting Principal of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra) was made with a Walnut Base and Paduk Pegs with a straight Eb/D Extension. The final picture shows the first stand I ever made with an Oak Base, two Oak Pegs, and a Walnut Eb/D Peg.
Other woods may be considered. Please email the shop directly at rgarrett@iwu.edu to inquire about availability and cost of exotic/imported and dual woods.
