The Bassoon Reed Case can be made from any available wood. The outside dimensions of the case are approximately 6 inches wide x 3 5/8 inches deep and are about 7/8 inches thick. The case holds 6 reeds, using foam inserts that were die cut by a foam company following my design. Unlike many foam inserts that can be purchased in a long roll online with notches that are vertical, these inserts have slots are angled to grab the reed securely and use memory foam to return to shape properly. The flat strip on both lids helps keep the tips of the reeds from moving around during transport - suspending the reed safely. Air holes on either side of the case allow for air ciruculation, and the lids are designed to have a slight gap when closed properly with the magnetic catch. The pictured reed case was made from Honduras Rosewood.
Any exotic wood orders (e.g. cocobolo, rosewood, zebrawood, purpleheart, etc.) are priced based on the fluctuating market, and dual wood case orders are custom built. Please email the shop directly at rgarrett@iwu.edu to inquire about availability and cost of exotic/imported and dual woods.
